The Boston Globe reports more and more kids are now using nicknames when addressing their parents instead of Mom and Dad. Cleveland Evans, a psychology professor at Bellevue University in Nebraska, and the former president of the American Name Society, says the change is happening because parents have become lax in their child-raising practices. Technology and screen names are also a factor. Some parents love their nicknamed because it makes them feel closer to their child while others hate it because it shows disrespect and bad grammar.
